Over 100 ABC scholars have graduated from Winchester High School, received advanced degrees from top higher education institutions, and launched successful careers!

WInchester ABC — Since 1971

Our Scholars

Scholars typically start Winchester High School as freshmen, complete their 4 years of high school, and move on to pursue further education at top universities and colleges.

During their time in Winchester, scholars must maintain a certain academic standing and are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities and sports. Typically, there are eight scholars who participate in Winchester ABC and live in the ABC house together, along with the Resident Directors.

Our Program

Winchester ABC is one of 21 community school programs (CSP) that partner with the national A Better Chance program. Our organization allows scholars to receive an excellent public education at Winchester High School while living in a dedicated and supervised home, with all the benefits that come with being part of a supportive community.

Our program is fully funded by generous donations from our community, allowing scholars to attend without a financial burden.

Our Volunteers & Staff

Our strong network of volunteers helps with a variety of responsibilities, including being a host family to scholars, providing rides to appointments/lessons/activities, providing occasional meals, fundraising, and tutoring, as well as serving administratively and on the Board.

The Winchester ABC House has 2 Resident Directors, and scholars have access to a Resident Academic Coordinator, resident chef, tutors, and college coaches.
